Favorite & hardest class of the week. I left the house and forgot to take my pre-work out energy boost. Luckily, I had one in my purse. Whew! I have seen such a performance boost in both endurance and strength. It's not a high and then a crash either, which is what I really like. I used to think I couldn't set my bike to the highest gear when we're climbing those hills, I really couldn't turn the pedals; but during the last 4 classes I have! I'm stronger! You can improve, with perseverance and desire. And, for me now, a little help from my friend! The beautiful thing is I took it yesterday morning and had sustained energy & focus all day. Nice! #Mi40Life - Mi40X - Phase 2 - Workout 6: Hamstrings/Quads
This post is being written 2-3 hours post @ifbbbenpak Mi40X leg day smash with my mind and body being wreaked. If I sound uneducated and begin to slur my words during this post we'll just blame the workout for the confusion. Here are some exercises from this morning's session:
▪️Leg Press (feet wide): 4 X 15 performed with 1 1/2 reps. Tension overload with only 40 seconds rest between each set. In order to target the quads more I applied upward intent on the platform while my foot placement was kept low and wide which allowed for a greater degree of knee flexion.
▪️Reverse-banded Hack Squats. Only two sets needed here to put me on the floor. Final set was a NOS-X set. The video shows the first set of three consecutive drop sets that includes a loaded stretch after completion of the last achievable rep of each working set. Really needed a partner here to get the full benefit of loaded stretches, but I was able to use the sets productively by never falling out of my AROM while keeping constant tension on the workout muscle.
▪️Lunges. At this point in the workout my energy stores were depleted and each leg felt like it weighed 200 pounds. The workout called for step-ups but I chose bodyweight lunges instead. 3 sets of 15 reps with each leg.
Also included in the workout were Lying Leg Curls (body extended) and One Leg Leg Presses. If a leg workout doesn't leave you questioning what gym you're at, how old you are and if you're a male or a female then it's time to re-evaluate the time you spend ''training'' legs. Leave them with no other choice but to grow!
