Pineapples (whoa-ooh-oh (obscure Pet Shop Boys reference 🤵👨🏼💻🙄). Working out what to do for my next @honeybournes window - so far it involves giant pineapples, huge donuts and some form of water themed background! #pineappleparty#pineapplelover
Happy almost Friday!!! Last night I ended my night with one of my many favorite cousins who just so happens to also be my business consultant 👩🏻💻💃🏻👭! Today I started the day with some of my favorite coworkers at a bar at 8:30am 🍻(#dontjudgeme ). I even talked my way out of a parking ticket!!! Before I left for morning brewskies, my husband surprised me by telling me that he was working from home 🥇💓! Not only that, but today I get to spend all day sewing alongside company for a pop-up shop that I am so looking forward to! *cue Chandler voice: Could today BE any more lit?! #heckyas #🙌🏽 #findthatlitLYFE#simplepleasures#linkinbio
Who here has been sweating through a heat wave this week like we have? I just got this pattern in stock and I would like to live in these Lakeside Pajamas for the remainder of the summer!
Tell me where you are from and how the weather is treating you these days? (And if you are super hot like me, be sure to click the link in my profile to get your copy of this incredible pattern today!)
Finally bit the bullet and cut into my neoprene! I've had to basically redesign the skirt from scratch as I underestimated how thick this stuff would be! My machine can't really handle more than one layer at the time - so embracing zig zag stitches and but joints. Did mean I had to leave out the pleats 😭 so have played with extra volume instead. Hopefully it fits and hopefully I can finish it for the wedding this weekend 🤞🏼 #newbie#sewing#sewcialists#makersmovement#memade#neoprene#skirt#volume#yellow#canipullthisoff#sobright

My latest Poppy dress! I made this one with just the one side split (but a gooood 4" higher) and a neat little back waist tie to cinch the waist without the darts 💕 Waaaaay too hot to wear right now though, so this baby might just have to hang tight til September.... hack tutorial is up on the @byhandlondon blog #poppytopanddress#byhandlondon
I post some of my upcoming projects on instastory. One of them being making my first swim suit 😱. I'm excited to make myself a swim suit because I have a hard time finding the right swimsuit that will fit my body shape and when I do they are just too plain or too expensive. I didn't use a pattern I decided to draft this myself by using a old swimsuit. I've completed the bottoms which are high waisted. Does that fabric look familiar? I had a lot left over from the scuba knit (previous post) that I decided to use it with a swim suit lining. Fit is great now I need to finish the top 😳.
Yay it's another sunny day! Its going to be sunny and hot until tuesday they say...time to add some summer dresses to the rotation 😁
You know when your hair works effortlessly the first time you try a new style and looks perfect then the 2nd time it takes forever & a day? Ya that was this morning 🤣 but it's up and looks pretty ok!
Continuing my favourite personal hash tag of #classiccarsandmemadeclothes here is me with this gorgeous Japanese mini (Japanese = Air con 👍🏻) and my @byhandlondon Holly trousers/cullotes which I finally sewed a button onto the waistband of 😀
Absolutely *love* these trousers in the gorgeous heat we've been having in London.
Thanks @jamiekooij for the 📷
In anticipation of summer, I designed and made myself a new knit skirt in April. Funny thing is, it's been so cold, I've only worn it once and I froze. .
So my summer is going not at all as planned, on many levels. Like sometimes we expect a season to look a certain way, but when summer starts marching by all cold and rainy, and the wardrobe hasn't changed from the last season, it can sometimes throw us a bit. And I have a choice, every moment of everyday to be thankful for the little things, or resent the fact that this season isn't what I planned. In this season, I haven't been able to do a lot of things I love, including working on furniture, or hiking with my family.
This summer I've found myself being incredibly thankful, I can sew. I think for me, it's part of the thriving, in the midst of the pain. I would love for you to stop by my blog and see the reveal of my Tulip Skirt and Tutorial for you to make one too!
There is *actual yarn content* coming soon, I swear! Including a pretty exciting announcement if you live in the Toronto area...
Meanwhile, I've been hitting the sewing machine to combat real life stress and today I'm taking my new #seamworkgabrielle dress 👗 for a test drive at the office. I need about a dozen of these in my wardrobe! Hat tip to #spanx for making me look like I actually have a waist and not just a pile of rolls 😂
Really excited to figure out my softbox lights 💖💖 I've been trying to prepare content to blog, but the lighting in my flat is terrible aka 2 spotlights per room in opposite corners. I'm not a fan. -
I'm not really a perfectionist, but I can't handle downright awful photos, so hopefully these will alleviate some of the stress 🤞🏻hopefully getting closer and closer to having my blog up and running properly! Just need to get the photos and finish figuring out the website design. It's exciting and horrifying in equal measures. -
I picked up this dress at a Swap Shop event. Really liked the style (it has pockets, of course I liked it!) but I thought it was too big, planned to have a bash at reworking the bodice with some darts so it fitted better.
It's been so frigging hot, and I have no summer clothes anymore after 2 kids, 10kg weight gain, hips appearing and going up 2 bust sizes, that I dug this out and have been wearing it unaltered the last few days. Actually really starting to like it as it is! And it was free. 👍🏻 Will take it to sewing club and see what the wise ladies there think.
