Form is everything. Most importantly:
-Pull shoulders back for proper bar placement and keep head up
-Come down until knees/torso are at 90 degrees
-Keep shins as upright as possible on the way down
-Keep weight mostly on the heels. You should be able to lift your toes off the ground at the bottom of the squat
-Flex abs on the way up
