So, I still need to attach the skirt to the bodice, hem the skirt, add a zip to the side and buttons down the front.
One of my recent resolutions for sewing has been to use more professional finishing techniques, so I've done bound button holes for this bodice. Vintage blue and white woven fabric. Tried to consider pattern matching as much as possible 😀
Not only are my vintage sheets getting the chop, but so are my doilies. It's time to put my stash to good use and give them new life in the form of one-of-a-kind skirts, tops and dresses for girls. Snip snip! ✂️
I found a huge scrap bag of these lovelies at the charity thrift shop in our local Humane Society facility. Coincidentally, the woman who donated them was in front of me in the checkout line and told me they were scraps from quilts she made her children when they were babies. Judging from her age and my memories of fabrics like these, I'd say that must have been sometime in the 70s. I think I like them so much because they remind me of my own childhood and 70s sundresses. Look for them soon in the shop (link in profile)! #vintagefabric#vintagesewing#fabricstash#vintagehome#calicofabric#1970sfashion#vintagequilt#vintagesundress#sunbonnetsue
So here's an example of what you can expect from me: cute little gathered skirts made from vintage sheets. I'm madly sewing these up in my free time. I work full time outside the home, so it's a challenge fitting it in but I'm getting there. I will have some listings up on Etsy within the next couple of weeks.
