Just refinished this danish teak sewing table. Would also be a great for a kids room or any other uses you can come up with. All joints are in good condition, the top slides smoothly and the plastic inserts are free of cracks or damage.
Always, always have a nice SHARP unpick on hand. They blunt very easy
Using a sharp one will cut your unpicking time down dramatically! And this is important when altering and refashioning! It saves so much time
It will give you less time unpicking and more time thinking of fun ways to change up your garments
I like new ones every few weeks!
It seems like each of my children take a good chunk of hair off with scissors. 😬😳my little red head decided to do it to her head recently. At first I didn't think she'd done too much to mess it up. Then on closer inspection I noticed some scalped and 1/4inch short areas. Oh well. After a make it work bang trim she is still the the cutest 3 year old I have. Today wearing her ducky dress. #sewingforkids#sewingmama#batistesewing#embroidery#shadowembroidery#vintagesewing#eyeletlace
Details of making up the @decades_of_style Half-Isabella dress (I used the upper half of pattern only). As I wanted a casual easy hot weather dress I went up a size. 1st photo: simple collar instead of the tie. Just cut the tie to fit neckline, no dangle. 2: Shows flat piece of fabric about to be pleated to fit the bodice front. 3: The skirt pleats, forming a dark area as stripes are bought together. Pleating on stripes or checks is much easier, just use them as a guide rather than measuring. 4: Interesting to see pleats on the wrong side. 5: Front skirt showing pleats before and after pressing. 6:The bodice on its own would make a cute blouse! 7: Close up of pocket applied over the pleats. I stitched the first few centimetres of pleats down. The fabric had red in the selvedge, I loved it and used it at the top of the pockets. Buttons sewn on in red pick up on this. #decadesofstyle#decades_of_style#isabelladress#vintagesewing#1920s#1920sdress#sewing#sewingproject#biascut#vintagedressmaking#decadesofstylepatterns
Half-Isabella Dress! I was so happy with the cut and fit of my @decades_of_style black and white Isabella dress I decided to make another version. Originally I bought this tartan cotton to make an ultra simple 1920s casual day dress, but the Isabella pattern was too good an opportunity to use the check in an interesting way. I omitted the decorative diamonds at the hip and cut the bodice straight across instead. The central panel is on the bias ( backed with a straight panel). Instead of gathers at the yoke I did pin tucks. For the skirt part I did not need a pattern, I took the whole width of the fabric and pleated it onto the bodice at each front hip. Will show close ups in next post. #isabelladress#vintagesewing#vintagedressmaking#1920s#1920sdress
