Brown bears (Ursus arctos) entered Alaska 100,000 years ago where the majority of the population in the US can be found. 98% of the species' habitat in the lower 48 US states has been lost but numbers in some regions are slowly rising.

Sunshine Skyway Bridge #photojambo
St. Petersburg's Sunshine Skyway Bridge soars 180 feet over the water and reaches over four miles, connecting St. Petersburg with mainland Florida, near Bradenton. A drive across it gives the Florida Key's Seven Mile Bridge a run for its money.
The span portion of the bridge is just over a mile long but with three miles of connector on each side, it's a drive that should be on everyone's road trip bucket list. The connectors seem to float just above the green and blue water of Tampa Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other. The close proximity to the water and wide-open views on each side make it a popular stretch of road for car commercials.
Another striking feature of the span bridge are the bright yellow cables that soar 250 feet into the sky.
Despite being an architectural icon that measures 430 feet tall, the 180-foot height limit is already preventing some of the world's greatest ships from reaching Port Tampa Bay. In fact, nearly every new cruise ship built today has an air draft exceeding 180 feet. That leads to the question, should they replace the 30 year-old bridge with a taller one or is it more cost-effective to build an additional, more modern port a few miles north or south of the current historic Port Tampa Bay? As the largest port in Florida — supporting over 80,000 jobs — its days may be numbered if it is no longer reachable by the state-of-the-art container and cruise ships that are being assembled today.

From Mark about this image:
STACKED & BLENDED
September 5, 2015
This one is from a couple of years ago.
The story: Went Northern Lights chasing one night on top of Elmore Mountain and it turned out we had no good North facing view on the ground when we got to the top. The lookout tower is fine but not for photographic endeavors due to it swaying gently with every breeze. So, we hiked back down by the light of the headlamps, hopped back in our vehicles and headed for a nearby plateau area with wide open skies. Alas, no Northern Lights. I decide to turn the camera 180 degrees and do a star trails image over the pond located directly behind us.
Editing: I had never stacked up a trails image and super imposed a single Milky Way image over it. I didn't get the blend exactly right. But, I also didn't want to the Milky Way to dominate the image and look some how just 'plugged' right in to the middle of the trails. I wanted the hint of the galaxy to be there more relative to the speed at which it all seems to move. I did manage to blow out the core near the horizon during editing and it's some thing I've never gone back to fix. This is one I may eventually go back to re-edit or just get another attempt at it some night this summer.
Thanks for looking!

Stepping into Tokyo made me feel like the Black Eyed Peas in the "Just Can't Get Enough" video, or The Killers, in the "Read My Mind" video. I remember being a teenager and dreaming of going to Japan, a country I couldn't even point out in a map back then.

🇺🇸 Let's add some colours to Instagram! The dozens of hotels along the seashore in Miami South Beach are designed in Art Deco style and painted in pleasant pastel colors. However the night completely changes feeling which this district gives you. Pale tints get dissolved in the darkness. Hotels become lit up with individual bright saturated colors and compete for your attention. Wet roads and cars after the rain multiply lamps. Everything looks fancy, rich and festive and forms a huge contrast with complete darkness of the ocean right across the road.
